What are Home Information Packs (HIPs)?

The Government introduced Home Information Packs on the 14th December 2007 to help speed up the home selling process and provide vital information for buyers, as well as helping to reduce excess carbon emissions from residential properties.

Every home put on the market must have a Home Information pack. Failure to obtain a Home Information Pack before putting your property on the market can result in a fine.

How will a Home Information Pack (HIP) benefit me?

Home Information Packs benefit house buyers by providing valuable information free of charge at the start of the conveyancing process - such as a sale statement, local searches and evidence of title - which could save you money, time and stress. The Pack also includes an Energy Performance Certificate that contains advice on how to cut CO2 emissions and fuel bills.

Home Information Packs benefit house sellers by making transactions more efficient, and less likely to fall through between offer and exchange.

Why should I order my HIP from Conveyancing Solutions?

In most instances, estate agent prepared Home Information Packs belong to that estate agent, and they may even charge you an exit fee if you want to change to a new agent. Your Home Information Pack from Conveyancing Solutions is prepared by a solicitor, which means your HIP is fully transferable between estate agents because it is owned by you and not the agent. This control will give you the freedom and flexibility to choose your own agent.

Furthermore, solicitor prepared Home Information Packs are generally cheaper than agency prepared HIPs. For one inclusive price of £330 we will provide you with your own fully transferable Home Information Pack. We will also provide you with preferential rates on your conveyancing, helping you to stay in control by keeping everything under the one roof.

How do I pay for my Home Information Pack (HIP)?

Payment is made at the time of ordering by credit or debit card. Payment of your Home Information Pack can be deferred until your property is sold, but at a higher cost.
