What are Home Information Packs (HIPs)?
The Government introduced Home Information Packs on the 14th December 2007 to help speed up the home selling process and provide vital information for buyers, as well as helping to reduce excess carbon emissions from residential properties.
Every home put on the market must have a Home Information pack. Failure to obtain a Home Information Pack before putting your property on the market can result in a fine.
How will a Home Information Pack (HIP) benefit me?
Home Information Packs benefit house buyers by providing valuable information free of charge at the start of the conveyancing process - such as a sale statement, local searches and evidence of title - which could save you money, time and stress. The Pack also includes an Energy Performance Certificate that contains advice on how to cut CO2 emissions and fuel bills.
Home Information Packs benefit house sellers by making transactions more efficient, and less likely to fall through between offer and exchange.
